We are seeking an experienced early childhood teacher to cover a Pre-Kindergarten maternity leave in a team teaching classroom from September through November. Team teaching at Tenacre is defined as co-teaching in the homeroom with:
shared responsibilities in all curriculum planning and instruction
shared responsibilities for all student and parent involvement
Candidates should: have strong interpersonal skills required for team teaching, colleague communication and parent contact; and be prepared to share instruction. Specials outside of the homeroom include: P.E., library, art, music, library and science. Technology is done in collaboration with the department to bring technology into the classroom, as appropriate.
3 years of fairly recent classroom teaching experience in PK-K-Gr. 1
Master's Degree preferred
Strong organizational and oral/written communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively
Strong foundation in early childhood development
Knowledge of early literacy skills

Tenacre School is a small, co-educational day school for children in Pre-Kindergarten through Grade Six. Our mission is "to nurture and challenge each child, every day." Tenacre enrolls 193 students in Pre-Kindergarten through 6th Grade, and has a teaching staff of 35. There are two teachers in every homeroom, plus special subject teachers for science, Spanish, art, technology, library, music, PE,... and Spanish. Tenacre also has resource teachers for reading and math, a learning consultant and a technology coordinator. We have our own custodial/maintenance staff and also have our own food service staff. Supporting the operation of the school are the academic, admission/enrollment, business and development offices.
Tenacre has a warm, friendly work environment. All staff are encouraged to participate in a variety of activities throughout the year, from community service projects with students, or acting in an annual faculty/staff play, to talking with the students about a hobby or trip during an assembly, or even attending "tadpole graduation" with the 3rd Grade in the Spring! Everyone on the staff works to enhance the learning experience of the children from direct teaching, to maintaining the facilities, to providing a nutritious lunch each day.
