Lower School Science, Design & Engineering Teacher and Coach will 1) encourage young scientists, create problem solvers, and design thinkers, from Early Childhood through Fifth Grade and 2) assist classroom teachers in the development of project based STEAM units of study.
The ideal candidate will possess an understanding and appreciation of theories of learning and pedagogy for children and adults as well as experience with student centered, engaging, and innovative teaching practices. The ideal candidate holds an Education degree and experience in engineering, technology as well as science education. The educator will have a working knowledge of the NGSS and a clear understanding of the integrated relationship of the STEAM components (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics).
The educator will effectively collaborate with faculty in the Lower division to create and implement rigorous and exciting STEAM curriculum and programming.
