Hackley School seeks a dynamic, experienced and innovative individual to serve as the school’s Director of Wellness Services and Education beginning July 1, 2017.
The Director of Wellness Services and Education collaborates with faculty, administrators, staff, and health professionals to support and promote a culture of personal and institutional wellness at Hackley School. With an emphasis on and understanding of how social, emotional, intellectual, physical, and spiritual health are related to teaching and learning, the Director assists faculty in aligning curricular and pedagogical goals with research-based best practices; oversees a team of faculty and staff in the creation and delivery of a dynamic, relevant health and physical education curriculum; ensures the successful integration of wellness practices into non-academic areas for faculty and students; and serves as a spokesperson for the school on issues of health and wellness, particularly as related to the role of socio-emotional health in cognitive development and learning.
The Director of Wellness Services and Education reports to the Assistant Headmaster and supervises the Director of Support Services, School Nurse, and Health and Physical Education Departments. Additional roles of the Director include participating in Academic Committee and chairing the Health and Wellness Steering Committee, which includes the Director of Support Services, School Nurse, Health and Physical Education Department Head, and Director of Athletics, and Division Directors. The Director will also teach wellness-related courses to students, while providing professional development and support to faculty members in related areas.

The successful candidate will have a relevant graduate degree - preferably in the area of counseling (M.A., Psy.D., or Ph.D.) - at least five years of management experience in health or education. Preference will be given to those with demonstrated K-12 teaching experience. Compensation is competitive based on qualifications and experience, and may include housing and tuition remission.
