Community School is seeking a dynamic Community School Theatre/Drama Teacher. This full-time position includes teaching a variety of drama, theatre, dance/movement, and related courses across different age groups, directing multiple performances per year, and being an active member of Community School’s Creative Arts Academy (CAA). This position, including benefits, begins August 14, 2017. Additional duties may include serving as a student advisor and participating in the school’s extensive Outdoor Program.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability and desire to work within a collaborative, inquiry-based educational program, which also incorporates 21st century fluencies blended with fundamental skills. Above all, the successful candidate must love education and the performing arts, and demonstrate an engaged, energetic, and passionate approach to students and teaching.
Candidates should understand and embrace the unique Community School culture of a small independent school in a mountain resort town. He/she will be an experienced educator or youth theatre director with a deep understanding of the developmental range within the preK-12 population, but also supportive of the school’s “one school” philosophy across divisions. The ideal candidate will have a healthy sense of humor, be flexible in his/her approach, and find joy in his/her work. He/she should be an organized and creative individual who motivates and inspires students to achieve their personal best, works collaboratively with faculty, and communicates clearly with parents.
