Full Time School Social Worker in private, Catholic coeducational high school serving 400 students. The SSW will assess home, school and community factors that affect a student’s ability to learn and will provide directly or arrange the necessary interventions to help the student succeed at Cristo Rey. The SSW will work with students and their parents and guardians. The SSW reports to the Principal.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Include:
Provide intervention strategies and treatment for students and their families, including counseling, case management, and crisis intervention. As part of the school’s outreach to families, SSW will partner with School Counselor to serve as school liaisons to the Parents' Association.
Provide direct service to students. Service includes co-teaching the Freshman Seminar course and coordinating the delivery of mental health services at community-based organizations.
Work collaboratively as a member of the Student Needs Assessment Team together with the Dean of Student Learning and Support, School Counselor, School Psychologist, Reading Specialist and Principal, advising the team about the resources and supports necessary to assure the success of each student.
Work collaboratively with the Dean of Students and with students and their parents to address and resolve some disciplinary and social concerns that arise at CRNYHS.
Participate in supervision of interns in school counseling - social work as needed.
Master of Social Work (MSW)
Bilingual in English and Spanish
Prior successful experience as a SSW in a high school setting.
