Assistant Teachers work collaboratively with the Grade Head Teacher in all day to day aspects of classroom management: teaching, assisting students with special needs, grading papers, parent communications, organizing classroom activities, administrative duties, etc. Additional involvement such as curricular planning, attending parent conferences, consulting with other faculty, or contributing to student evaluation and documentation is not required but is possible if the Grade Head welcomes such involvement or deems it appropriate.
Assistant Teachers for the coming school year work Monday through Friday beginning at 7:30am or 8:00am and usually ending at 3:15pm, depending on assignment. Recess, lunch and dismissal duties as assigned.
In addition to hourly pay and eligibility for health insurance benefits, Assistant Teachers participate in a variety of professional development activities scheduled periodically throughout the school year.
