The Pingree community is dedicated to academic excellence and the development of high personal standards. Pingree believes that a love of learning flourishes best in a diverse community that respects truth, curiosity, creativity, humor, and independent and imaginative thinking. Committed to developing global citizens, Pingree actively seeks faculty and students of character and intelligence from diverse social, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds.
Pingree School seeks a full-time math teacher for the 2017-2018 academic year. Pingree has an integrated program for the first three levels of mathematics. Teachers stress a balanced approach to problem solving where students are encouraged to explore topics algebraically, geometrically, numerically, and verbally. The math department emphasizes collaborative learning in the classroom that simultaneously holds students to high individual expectations.
We seek candidates with a strong background in mathematics. The successful candidate should expect to teach four sections of mathematics, most likely including courses in our integrated program and pre-calculus. They will enjoy the process of creating and sharing original course materials and have an interest in integrating technology and authentic problem solving into the classroom. Furthermore, they will be eager to participate in a “course team” that collaborates regularly to ensure as common an experience as possible for students within each course.
In addition to classroom teaching, Pingree teachers are asked to coach and/or supervise two seasons of a sport or equivalent activity, as well as serve as an advisor. Consequently, candidates must exhibit both a passion for their subject matter, as well as a commitment to working with adolescents both inside and outside of the classroom.
Pingree School is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer
