The World Languages Department is seeking a part-time Upper School Spanish teacher for the 2017-2018 school year. S/he will teach two sections of Spanish, levels to be determined based on qualifications. S/he will work closely with the other Spanish teachers to ensure an integrated and cohesive curriculum, while being encouraged to use creative and innovative teaching practices that achieve student-learning outcomes based on ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines. S/he will attend department meetings, collaborate with colleagues and maintain good communication with families about student progress.
The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience using core practices of world language teaching and be able to teach all levels of Spanish including Advanced Placement. S/he will hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish or a related field and demonstrate native or near native fluency in the language. Expertise in Latin American and/or Spanish literature and culture is preferred, as well as a passion for Catholic and independent education.
