Harbor Day School seeks a temporary, full time Kindergarten-8th Grade Substitute Librarian for the 2017-2018 school year.
The Librarian is responsible for maintaining the school's 15,000 volume library, located at the center of the school. The Librarian fosters a love of books and reading and teaches students the skills necessary to use the library. The position also includes teaching research and information skills, implementing integrated instructional activities, maintaining the library Makerspace, and performing other related duties that may be required.
The Librarian duties include:
Lead weekly library lessons and visits for all children in Kindergarten - 8th grade.
Select and maintain print and digital resources, catalog and process resources
Support curricular needs school-wide with appropriate materials
Maintain library website and databases, including the library catalog (Follett Destiny)
Teach students information-seeking and research skills in the library and in collaboration with classroom teachers
Foster a love of books and reading for all students
Manage various reading incentive programs and book clubs
Create and manage annual Summer Reading Program
Collaborate with teachers on research/assignments
Manage library Makerspace
Organize annual library events, including Turkey Bowl book sale, various assemblies, visiting authors, and Brown Bag Book Exchange.
In coordination with Parent Council Library Chair, manage library parent volunteers
