ABOUT THE SCHOOL
Nestled among five mountain ranges in the heart of the Wood River Valley, Community School is a small, independent pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade college preparatory school of 400 students, committed to engendering a sense of community within an intellectually challenging and supportive atmosphere.
Community School in Sun Valley, Idaho, is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Learning Specialist to join the school’s existing staff for the 2017-18 school year. This position, including benefits, begins August 14, 2017. The successful candidate must have a love for working with middle school and high school students and demonstrate a willing and flexible approach to education.
Responsibilities include conducting supported classroom sessions, evaluating and providing direct support and instruction to students with identified needs, and working to strategically support the general education of faculty through the implementation of each enrolled student’s Accommodation Plan.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to communicate clearly and in a timely manner with students, faculty, and parents. Candidates also should understand and embrace the unique Community School culture of a small independent school in a mountain resort town. Above all, the successful candidate must be flexible, dynamic, and able to work collaboratively. Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree, experience working with students with learning differences, and be able to work across multiple grade levels.
