Under the supervision of the Director of Advancement, the Director of Parent Relations & Special Events is the primary liaison for the Parents’ Association (PA), providing strategic direction and support for the PA leadership team and coordination of PA-sponsored events, including The Fair, Gala, Welcome Picnic, and others. This individual is also responsible for the planning and implementation of events that are sponsored by the advancement office, including new parent dinners, alumni events, and other fundraising and community building events. This individual is part of the school’s advancement team and is involved with all advancement-related activities.
Plan, organize and execute all major programs & events originating from the Advancement Office including budget oversight and analysis of the effectiveness of each event. These events include, but are not limited to: alumni events, grandparents’ day, donor recognition dinners and events, capital campaign events, and anniversary celebration events.
Serve as the primary liaison for the Parents’ Association, providing strategic direction and support to the PA leadership team to ensure that activities are aligned with the strategic priorities of the school as well as event management support for PA-sponsored events, including The Fair, Gala and the Welcome Back Picnic.
Develop and lead a comprehensive parent relations program that ensures parents are engaged and that all efforts are aligned with the school’s strategic priorities. This includes parent education opportunities, community building events and volunteer recruitment and management.
Coordinate parent communications pertaining to events and the PA.
Oversee processing and acknowledgement of event registrations, sponsorships, and tickets.
Provide event management support for select school-wide events, including graduation, as necessary.
Work with appropriate staff and volunteer leadership to conceptualize events, including the purpose, targeted audience, key themes and messages, location and timeline.
Brief Buckley administrators, trustees and others on their roles in events, including, if necessary, a briefing packet (guest list, program, script, etc.) about the event with adequate lead time.
Recruit, engage and lead volunteers in appropriate roles to assist with event planning and implementation. May include the formation of committees and leading meetings.
4 to 6 years of event and volunteer management experience, preferably in a non-profit and/or educational environment
Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge operating system and/or website management system
The candidate must have familiarity with annual giving, endowments, capital campaigns, and planned giving;
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Demonstrated cultural competency skills and leadership in the areas of diversity, multiculturalism, inclusion, equity and social justice
Proficiency with desktop publishing, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and PowerPoint
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations, including students, parents, and faculty
Possess a valid driver license
