Children’s Day School (CDS) is a co-educational preschool through eighth grade serving over 460 students in the Mission Dolores neighborhood of San Francisco. Spanning two campuses, and home to a diverse community of students, faculty and families, CDS is a vibrant learning community. We are seeking an experienced, talented and energetic Seventh and Eighth Grade Science teacher for the 2017-18 school year. The ideal candidate will bring rigor, middle school and subject matter expertise, impeccable communication skills and passion to our program. Most importantly, the candidate will prepare and inspire all students to be lifelong learners.

Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with students, colleagues and parents

A commitment to professional development
A commitment to social justice and multicultural education
Curricular content and instruction
Strong grasp of life and physical science topics including cellular biology, genetics, human physiology and evolution, physics, and chemistry
Willingness to engage in cross-curricular collaboration and lesson planning
Ability and willingness to differentiate instruction
Ability to integrate theory with practice in designing and implementing appropriate learning strategies for each student
Other responsibilities may include:
Serving as a homeroom teacher
Being an advisor of 10-12 students (prior training in Developmental Designs is desired but not necessary)
Leading or co-leading an affinity group?related to race/ethnicity, family structure, gender, religion, sexual orientation or other aspects of identity
Participating in an overnight environmental education trip
Performing lunch, recess, morning, and dismissal duties as assigned
Writing narrative reports for all students
Maintaining contact with parents
Participating in parent/teacher conferences
