Kents Hill School seeks a qualified English Language Learner (ELL) teacher, preferably with three to five years experience in an independent secondary level school setting, to teach full-time in the ELL Department at Kents Hill School. Preference is given to flexible candidates with background in other world languages as well. In addition, the School seeks a candidate who has knowledge and experience in using educational technology in the classroom, and who brings an active interest in engaging in a 21st century learning community. Preference will be given to candidates who have:
Participate in professional development opportunities;
Serve as an International Student Advisor: Provide support with International Student Orientation, Student Ambassador training and Go Global! Club;
Collaborate with other teachers to facilitate mainstreaming of ELL students;
Help educate and support the greater faculty regarding the needs of ELL students;
Demonstrable skills in oral and written communication;
Ability to work well in a student-centered curriculum;
Understanding of learning styles and differentiated instruction;
Desire to work with high school learners;
Skill at managing multi-faceted work in an intense and supportive learning community.
This position includes residential dormitory and student advisory responsibilities. Past experience in this area is preferred.
Required to coach two seasons of sports or lead other afternoon activities.
Candidates with experience coaching at the high school level are preferred.
