About The Nueva School
The Nueva School is an internationally recognized independent PK-12 school serving gifted and talented students since 1967. The School currently serves over 700 students PK-11 and is expected to grow to over 900 PK-12 students over the next few years. The school is a three-time winner of the US Department of Education National Blue Ribbon Award, winner of the American Institute of Architects Award for School Design and Sustainability, recognized as an Apple Distinguished Program, appointed an Ashoka Changemaker School, a co-founder of the Common Ground Speaker Series, sponsor of the Innovative Learning Conference, and was highlighted by the Pulitzer Prize-winning and New York Times best-selling author Thomas Friedman in his recent book That Used to Be Us in the chapter Average Is Over. Nueva is located in the neighboring towns of Hillsborough and San Mateo equidistant between San Francisco and Silicon Valley in the Bay Area of Northern California.

The Nueva School seeks a dynamic PK-8 Physical Education teacher. Well-qualified candidates will be creative, energetic, and passionate people with experience implementing a curriculum that emphasizes a constructivist, student-centered pedagogical approach. Candidates will have the ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with various levels of experience, skill, and physical ability. They will have an understanding of fundamental physical fitness concepts, principles, and strategies. They will support students in learning the motor skills and movement patterns necessary to perform a variety of physical activities. Candidates will be passionate about physical wellness and the promotion of life-long fitness, and help inspire this passion in students. They will be team-oriented and open to collaborating with colleagues across divisions and disciplines. The ability to teach sport-specific skills and coach teams is also desired.
Additional responsibilities include advising students, sponsoring a weekly academy (enrichment-type course), traveling overnight with students on a yearly trip, and facilitating a weekly literature club.
