We are seeking a dynamic and energetic full time Director to lead our ESL programs beginning with the 2017-2018 school year; possibility for earlier start date may exist. The Director will work with a large and diverse international student population, our general faculty and ESL department.
The applicant must be able to lead a department committed to bolstering student achievement through various teaching methods and be able to assess student abilities as it relates to desired educational goals. Moreover, the Director assists in creating interdependent working relationships between ESL instructors and other teachers. The ideal candidate offers ESL training on a regular basis to teachers and works toward creating an ESL department that is vibrant, intentional and committed to helping international students attain English language acquisition skills. The ideal candidate will have a solid background with English as a Second Language, be able to teach ESL courses, and have previous teaching and leadership experience. Experience with intensive ESL programs like ESL summer academies is highly desirable. Bilingual in Spanish preferred. Ability to work within MMA’s philosophy, a positive attitude and a profound commitment to the intellectual and emotional growth of today’s youth is essential. The candidate must be a team player and embrace the boarding school culture. An education degree with ESL endorsements is required.
