DIRECTOR OF ALUMNI PROGRAMS – responsible for the implementation of all of the alumni programs on and off-campus; Alumni Weekend, help with Family Weekends, Reunions/Homecoming, managing office schedule and budget and be the point person for personal outreach around attending events. Work with the Director of Communications on The Forman Letter (articles, class notes, proofreading), develop invitations, and class newsletters.
The Director of Alumni Programs is responsible for designing, implementing and coordinating an institution-wide comprehensive constituent relations and stewardship program that appropriately and consistently promotes interaction with all constituents. In addition, the position must partner with the advancement staff to determine the best strategies for effective stewardship of donors; maintain ongoing and active networking with internal and external constituencies; and advise on the facilitation of recognition events and coordinate various activities for constituents. Annual Fund for pushes during the year you will be part of our fund raising team.
Responsibilities to include but not limited to:
As an events coordinator for the School, including alumni events on and off campus –coordinate all details to maximize attendance. Invitations and materials – in collaboration with Communication, Advancement, Admission, Heads office and administrative staff work on all constituent events. Details to include: planning, budgeting, recruiting and training volunteers and staff; overseeing RSVPs and reservations, managing or overseeing all details of holding the event, appropriate event follow-up and clean up, volunteer recognition, and evaluation.
Enhance the active Alumni network through identification, involvement, and investment of alumni. Working with volunteers to engage alumni in the life of the School (Events, Communications, Networking, Annual Fund, recruitment, nurturing and leadership succession). Help to find ways to increase our strategic use of Social media and video.
Works collaboratively with the advancement staff to compose letters, compile appropriate invitation lists, engage featured program participants, create programs and provide program materials, prepare program scripts and participant remarks and create and/or obtain donor awards and recognitions.
Prepare condolence letters for obituaries and congratulatory notes for births including gifts, graduations, anniversaries, etc. Writes or edits class notes regarding those milestones.
Recommends and facilitates on- and off-campus publicity of major gifts and donors. Advises on and facilitates the recognition of donors in both print and web-based publications.
Work with the Director of Communications on coordinating the design, story line and production of the School’s magazine, The Forman Letter.
One quarter of time will ideally requires regional travel
The Director of Alumni Programs will also be the primary support for the Director of Parent Programs, with a focus on Parent events (on and off campus)
Direct involvement with, and posting on, various social media platforms, including Facebook, LinkedIN, Instagram, etc.
Ability to understand and interpret the School’s mission and programs.
Strong interpersonal skills are needed to work collaboratively with the development team and volunteers; a sense of humor is a must.
Strong work ethic and self-initiative, ability to work independently.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, time management, strong organizational and listening skills.
Minimum of 3-5 years of Advancement experience.
