The Upper School History Department has an opening for a full-time teacher. The successful candidate will teach four sections of history, including 9th- and/or 10th-grade World History and semester-long electives on specific topics in World History or Global Studies. The position involves two but possibly three preps. As a full-time faculty member he/she will serve as an advisor for 8-10 students and support a co-curricular activity by coaching a sport or advising a major school activity. All faculty members are expected to support activities and events that contribute to the life of the school and to attend departmental, divisional and all-school staff meetings.
An undergraduate degree in history is required, a graduate degree is preferred with a focus on world regions other than Europe or the U.S. We are looking for candidates with at least three to five years of successful independent high school teaching experience as well as a background and interest in teaching research and writing to students in high school.
