Purpose: The Director of College Counseling is responsible for leadership of the School’s comprehensive College Counseling Program.
Scope: The Director of College Counseling reports directly to the Head of School, who acts as Academic Dean, and is responsible for all operations within the College Counseling Department and, ultimately, the success of students in their search and attainment of post-secondary opportunities.
Guide students and families through the college admissions process.
Write official School Recommendation letters.
Oversee Teacher Recommendation letter writing process.
Maintain detailed records for all students including college application information, college acceptance, test scores, GPAs and scholarships received.
Submit supporting materials for students to colleges.
Collaborate with Head of School/Academic Dean and Registrar to ensure students are taking an appropriate curriculum for college admission consideration, and have sufficient credits for graduation.
Create a resource rich environment for students including college information, scholarship opportunities and financial aid opportunities.
Communicate regularly with constituents.
Continue professional growth by representing the School through on-campus visits, college tours, and at conferences and workshops.
Schedule and host college representative visitors.
Maintain a yearly budget with assistance from CFO.
Work with the Admissions Office to highlight the College Counseling Orogram to prospective students.
Prepare reports and analyze data on college counseling related statistics.
Compile annual School Profile.
Maintain and disseminate information about testing (TOEFL, AP, SAT, ACT, PSAT).
