The Episcopal School of Baton Rouge seeks a Controller to begin as soon as reasonably possible.
Episcopal, a college preparatory educational community of between 900 and 1,000 students and approximately 170 professionals, includes grades pre-K through 12. Episcopal is known historically for its academic performance, for its attention to the spiritual lives of its students, and for offering a wide range of opportunities for student education and development. The primary characteristics and responsibilities of the Controller are:
Performs tasks and projects with a high degree of accuracy and attention to
Independently prioritizes and processes
Prepares and executes journal entries.
Prepares posts monthly reports.
Reconciles bank and investment accounts.
Reconciles General Ledger account.
Manages ongoing banking relationships.
Distributes and collects time sheets.
Distributes and maintains personnel data for government reporting, (W-4, I-9, etc.)
Enters payroll data via ADP.
Prepares journal entries to record payroll in the general ledger.
Set ups pension remittances.
Reconciles flexible spending amounts to payroll and flexible spending provider.
Ensures compliance with annual retirement contribution maximum amounts.
Manages garnishments – calculates amount to be withheld and sets it up in Paychex.
Fills requests for information concerning employment records for both current and prior employees.
Maintains personnel records in accordance with HR privacy laws.
Addresses concerns of parents, faculty and other community members as necessary.
In addition to the above responsibilities, the Controller will perform tasks assigned by the Chief Financial Officer on an “as needed” basis. The Controller may recognize the need, on occasion, to assist other personnel in the Business Office, in the performance of their duties. The Controller needs to have initiative in problem solving, be of assistance to visitors to the Business Office, and contribute to the Business Office team in a positive and pro-active manner.
The position is full-time. An Undergraduate Degree in Accounting or related field, or commensurate experience and experience working with a non-profit organization are preferred. CPA certification would be a plus.

Candidates must be self-motivated individuals with excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with others and is comfortable with using technology.
