We are seeking a long-term substitute for a 4th grade homeroom teacher who expects to begin maternity leave in the fall 2017. The substitute position will begin on August 17, 2017 to allow significant overlap in the classroom of the teacher and the substitute teacher before the maternity leave. The appointment is expected to conclude on December 15, 2017.
The substitute teacher will be responsible for continuing a strong program that challenges and supports each student--academically, socially and developmentally--within a warm and respectful environment. The position requires teaching math and humanities (in addition to curriculum that makes thematic connections between language arts and social studies). Significant experience in upper elementary teaching and a Master’s degree in education or a related field are preferred. Experience in the use of Envisions Math would be helpful but is not required. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the 3/4 Unit teaching team and will value learning through collaboration, experiential education, thematic teaching, and community service.
