BB&N is seeking a qualified, experienced and energetic upper school art instructor to teach our Afternoon Arts course from September through November, 2017. This course encourages students to explore a range of art mediums and techniques. This part-time leave position includes teaching one course that meets from 3:30-5:00 on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Additional responsibilities include maintaining a studio and attending weekly department and faculty meetings. The instructor will engage in the creative and institutional life of the Upper School.
The ideal candidate should have at least 2-4 years of experience teaching high school art and running an art studio, as well as an understanding of the unique developmental stages of high school students. A Bachelor’s degree is required, and a Master’s degree is preferred. The ideal candidate is expected to have a broad artistic background with strong experience in both two- and three-dimensional art mediums including but not limited to drawing, painting, ceramics, and photography. Experience handling all facets of studio maintenance is necessary. The candidate must be interested in the culture of BB&N’s Upper School and have energy to offer the program.
