Grades 3 – 6 Reading Instructor Responsibilities:
Individual and small group student support, both within class and out of class.
Effective communication skills to coordinate goals and progress towards those goals with teachers, parents, and students
Exceptional organizational skills
Plan and design active and engaging lessons
Positive proactive behavior management
Effective research-based literacy experience to support all areas of literacy
Extensive knowledge of phonics and multi-sensory reading instruction
Familiarity with DIBELS and Fundations

Lift up to 40 lbs. (PSK)
Perform repetitive bending, stretching and stooping
Climb up and down stairs
Work with children on the floor and work outdoors in a variety of weather
Ensure children’s safety with keen visual/ hearing capabilities
Perform light cleaning duties
Credentials/Experience and Abilities Required:
For a lead teacher position, teaching experience in a public or private setting is preferred. Although a teacher’s certificate is not required, Park Street School expects that teachers without a certificate be certifiable.
A. or B.S. required (Early Childhood or Elementary Degree preferred); Masters or plan to work towards one desirable
Demonstrated experience working in a student-centered environment within the classroom, including teaching to individual needs utilizes assessments to drive instruction, content-rich curriculum, individualized instruction, creative hands-on learning, and flexible instruction.
Demonstrated experience in the instruction of students with varied learning styles and levels of mastery
Demonstrated experience in effectively solving challenging problems through a positive, collaborative approach
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Knowledge of and commitment to Core Knowledge curriculum
Demonstrated initiative and skills in the following areas: relationship and community building, educational leadership, communication, conflict resolution, creativity, problem solving, decision making and time management
Entrepreneurial outlook and private, Christian school commitment
Add value to the mission, vision guiding principles and direction of the school with their words, work and witness.
