BEAUVOIR, The National Cathedral Elementary School in Washington, D.C. seeks a qualified registered nurse to supervise medical care for children between three months and nine years old in the Early Learning Center and the Pre-Kindergarten to Third Grade Summer Program. The nurse will work from 8 am – 4 p.m from June 19th-August 4, 2017.
The nurse will be responsible for assessing the health status of children in the identification and prevention of illnesses and for providing general healthcare. The nurse must respect the confidentiality inherent to the health profession and will work with the School's other nurse to maintain accurate and proper documentation and records. The nurse will promote health teaching in the after-school (ABC) and Auxiliary Programs
Preference will be given to candidates with prior pediatric healthcare experience. In addition, candidate must successfully pass a criminal background check and complete the Staff Health Certificate issued by the District of Columbia for child development facilities.
Candidates must have demonstrated ability to function as an interdisciplinary team member and willingness to uphold the mission of the School. Successful candidates will possess the qualities of maturity, diplomacy, integrity, and ability to work well with others.
Ability to relate to, and provide healthcare for, children ages three months to nine years old.
Prior experience in a staff nurse capacity in a school or pediatric healthcare facility or division preferable.
Graduate of an approved registered nurse program.
Valid and current license to practice locally as a registered nurse.
Current CPR certification, health exam, and TB test.
Knowledge of current principles and best practices of nursing standards of care.
Knowledge of occupational exposure to blood-borne pathogen standards and operational procedures.
Demonstrated ability to maintain personal and professional accountability by adhering to state mandates and established policies, procedures, and standards of excellence while providing quality health care.
Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing (including electronic communications).
