The Dalton School, New York City K-12 Independent School, seeks a full-time team player to join a dynamic office for a leading Independent School. Reporting to the CFO and the Director of Development, the Development Associate/ Administrative Assistant will provide proactive and effective administrative support across the departments. The individual should have an understanding of The Dalton School’s mission, enjoy multi-tasking, and have the talent and ability to successfully work with colleagues.
Development Associate Duties
Responsible for Raiser’s Edge updates and occasional back-up gift entry
Assists with editing and proofing written and digital materials, including social media content
Maintains office budget and is responsible for invoices
Helps as a member of the Development team in projects/events of the Development and Alumni Office (some evenings required).
Administrative Assistant Duties
Provide administrative support in professional, confidential and organized manner. Administrative support includes monitoring, routing and drafting of correspondence, managing incoming telephone calls, filing, copying and welcoming visitors
Attend and take minutes of various Committee Meetings (some evenings required)
Schedule meetings and manage individual / departmental calendars for Director of Development and Chief Financial Officer
Order supplies, stationery, and materials
Plan and organize meetings and take minutes as needed
Manage and track vacation calendar for office staff
Other duties as assigned.
Organized and attention to detail
Demonstrate proficiency using Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Google Drive, Internet Browsers and other PC and Mac based applications
Raiser’s Edge experience preferred
Excellent communication skills. Candidates must be able to communicate equally well with staff, faculty, administrators, parents, and board members in the school community.
Interest in a career in education
Able to work with confidential material
Sense of humor is helpful
