Maine Central Institute is a town academy high school located in Pittsfield, Maine. Approximately 450 students attend MCI in grades 9-12. This number includes students from a variety of towns in the central Maine area along with students from other states and countries from around the world. More than 100 students live on campus in dormitories.
MCI is seeking a quality leader to fill the position of Director of Residential Life and International Programs. The Director of Residential Life and International Programs will be:
Charged with leading the boarding and international programs, under the direction of the Dean of Student Life, and will liaise with the offices of admissions and academics.
Directly responsible for creating and leading a meaningful and comprehensive experience for boarding students academically and socially by developing, implementing, overseeing, and evaluating all components of the boarding program at the school.
Fulfill specific responsibilities including, but not limited to, facilitating integration of boarding and day students, planning of meaningful activities, coordinating Sit Down dinners, managing travel, overseeing host family/home stay program, encouraging wellness and co-curricular participation, being fully immersed in the campus community.
Expected to be dynamic, collaborative, personable, outgoing, energetic, and organized while being flexible enough to adapt to the needs of the students and staff in the program, and work within a team model to provide our students with the best experience possible.
The direct supervisor of the three Dorm Directors providing support and leadership to them, and the entire boarding staff. (S)he will meet weekly with boarding staff and other appropriate groups and coordinate all duties associated with coverage of dorms and on campus all aspects associated with the boarding program.
Partnering with the ESL department to assure that international students are properly placed in classes that are challenging but appropriate, and ensure that students are progressing as English language learners.
Responsible for communicating with parents and consultants of boarding students effectively, timely, and professionally.
Be on call, along with the Dean of Student Life and Director of Student Affairs, for the dorm staff outside of school hours during the school week.
