Milton Academy, established in 1798, is an independent coeducational national boarding and day school, serving 1,000 students in grades K-12 on a 125 acre campus eight miles south of Boston.
Milton Academy seeks an Engagement and Communications Assistant for a position in the Development and Alumni Relations Office. The assistant will be responsible for all administrative support of the engagement and communications team, including events, donor relations and communications functions, as well as general office support for the development and alumni relations team.
Provide general administrative support to ensure the success of the engagement and communications team, including calendaring, meeting management, reconciling the budget and monthly reports, and more.
Assist with event planning and follow-up, may include managing RSVPS, creating nametags, researching venues.
Provide general communication support, including researching stories and information, drafting and editing letters, cataloging information for department-wide use, updating an editorial calendar.
Manage content updates on Milton Connect, serving as the primary liaison to external web vendors including iModules and Evertrue.
Assist with donor stewardship, may include mailing support, maintenance of gift inventory, updating of donor data.
Track alumni and student milestone information (class notes, birth and death notifications), serving as an administrative liaison for Milton Magazine.
Serve as the primary public facing greeter in the Development and Alumni Relations Office, greeting visitors and providing a cheerful first impression, fielding phone calls and managing correspondence from email@example.com and other email addresses.
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree and have 1-2 years of experience in alumni relations, events, or communications. Candidates should be strong writers, adept proofreaders, critical thinkers, and eager problem solver; have expertise in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Google docs; have excellent organization and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Preferred candidates will have familiarity with online marketing tools and channels (WordPress, iModules, email platforms, and social media channels).
