Bosque School, a co-ed independent day school in Albuquerque, New Mexico, seeks an experienced and talented Upper School Spanish Teacher to begin August 2017. Bosque School has both Spanish as a Second Language and Spanish for Heritage Learners programs. We value candidates who are passionate about upper school, have a love of the Spanish language, and are innovative and knowledgeable about second language acquisition and heritage language teaching. We place a high value on community and seek candidates who have excellent interpersonal skills and who will work well with students, colleagues, and parents. Bosque School places a high value on creating a diverse faculty and staff that reflects the cultural richness of New Mexico. A full time position is a five-class teaching load, advising a group of 10 - 13 students, serving as a faculty sponsor for a student service learning group (or other student activity) and leading a week-long experiential program. There are additional responsibilities throughout the year that require attendance at evening and weekend events.

Experience teaching in an upper school Spanish classroom or related experience
Four year degree in Spanish, Education or related field
Native or near-native fluency in Spanish
Knowledge of current pedagogical trends in language teaching (both for L2 and Heritage settings)
Ability to create and manifest innovative curricula in a student-centered learning environment that supports curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking
Capacity to address the developmental needs of academically motivated students with a diversity of learning styles
Passion and skill to contribute positively to an educational environment that supports a lifelong love of learning, self-esteem, and respect for the community and the world in which we live
Passion and skill to contribute positively as an advisor, both to develop curriculum and to develop strong relationships with students and families
Utilize technology (interactive whiteboard, classroom website, Chromebook integration, Google Apps) to support student instruction
Commitment to engaging in community conversations about diversity and equity
