St. Johns Country Day School is searching for an experienced Accounting & Human Resources Manager. Reporting to the Director of Finance, the candidate must be able to provide leadership for a variety of financial and human resource functions in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
Essential Job Functions
Manage accounts receivable, including related journal entries.
Assist with annual budget preparation process and ongoing expense reporting for select budget line items.
Oversee semi-monthly payroll processing and related journal entries.
Assist with cash deposits for funds collected on an as-needed basis.
Represent the school to financial institutions, external auditors, vendors, and others outside the school as needed.
Establish and maintain effective communication with department and division leaders.
Work with payroll vendor to coordinate calendar year-end payroll-related documents (W-2, ACA, and other documents).
Facilitate employee onboarding and de-boarding.
Coordinate annual benefits enrollment and perform routine benefits administration.
Handle all Workers’ Compensation claims and follow proper reporting to insurance company from inception to closure.
Manage administrative aspects of 403(b) plan.
Work with the Director of Finance to maintain compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment law. Assist with annual policy review.
Develop and maintain a system of personnel records for all school employees.
Engage in a variety of analyses as requested.
Manage employee wellness program.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources or equivalent.
Three to five years’ experience in a progressively responsible role in Finance, Accounting or Human Resources.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision; proven record of multi-tasking with success meeting deadlines.
Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to establish respect, credibility, and trust, and maintain productive working relationships at all levels of the organization including staff and senior leadership.
Exceptional communication skills – verbal, written, presentation, and in team facilitation.
Demonstrated commitment to confidentiality; absolute discretion in handling sensitive/confidential information, strong ethics and ability to exercise good judgement.
Candidate will be required to pass a background check.
Knowledge of employment law, best practices, and trends in HR and payroll.
Knowledge of Financial Edge accounting software and Google products helpful.
Experience in an independent school environment and HR Certification are both a plus.
Additional Salary Information: The position is for the academic year starting in August 2017. A salary commensurate with experience, degree attainment, and qualifications is paid to employees annually.
