Head-Royce School is seeking a part-time communications specialist to join our Advancement team. This position reports to the Director of Communications and supports School communications (professional staff, teachers, parents, alumni and others). This role provides critical support in the areas of website content updates, support for storytelling (written and digital), as well as social media management and preparing communications for our weekly e-newsletter. The specialist will also be responsible for department administrative tasks as needed.
The communications specialist must have strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact cooperatively with other offices across campus - including each School division, athletics, admissions, advancement, business office, fine arts and senior administration.
All candidates must have proven experience in a communications role, enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and be able to prioritize multiple demands.
In addition, the ideal candidate will possess the following:
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills;
Excellent organizational and time management skills, including the ability to take initiative, prioritize, attention to detail, and good follow-through;
Professionalism, diplomacy, and discretion;
Strong skills in a MacIntosh environment, including Word, Keynote (or PowerPoint), Excel and Google Docs applications
Sensitivity to, and ability to work with, diverse racial, ethnic, gender, cultural, as well as disabled populations;
Accuracy and attention to details;
Demonstrated flexibility to respond to changing demands, priorities, and ability to handle deadlines and pressure with a commitment to high standards.
At least two years in a communications role
BA/BS required - speciality Journalism, PR or communications preferred
Comfort and knowledge of social media systems
Comfortable with photography/capturing video and still shots for storytelling purposes
Familiarity with CMS system or working with website content or marketing platforms a plus
