Located in Wilmington, NC, Cape Fear Academy is southeastern North Carolina’s premier PK3-12 independent school. Teachers at Cape Fear Academy deliver high quality instruction that emphasizes critical thinking, written and oral communication, and collaboration in a technology-rich environment. Applications are now being accepted for the following position:
Middle School & Upper School Band Director
Teach Beginner Band, Intermediate Band, Upper School Band, and AP Music Theory every other year where enrollment numbers allow.
Direct the holiday and spring concerts, circus, Grandparents Day band performances, and any other programs as needed.
Lead the CFA Pep Band.
Direct the band for the Upper School Musical.
Chaperone band trips for regional and state competitions and clinics.
Piano/Accompanist for formal choral concerts for the Middle School and Upper School, Grandparents Day, Salute to Seniors, and Graduation (if piano skills allow).
Performs other projects and duties as assigned.
Teacher should have a strong understanding of middle & upper school student development and a passion for teaching and directing bands.
Teacher should be passionate, with experience and knowledge in all levels of music and conducting concert bands with a history of successfully teaching students in grades 6-12.
Teacher should have an interest in and ability to contribute to extracurricular activities.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in music field required, Master’s degree preferred
Experience: Three or more years of teaching experience required.
