The Director of Admissions is an integral part of the school’s administrative team and is responsible for managing all facets of the admissions process in the school’s effort to attract, enroll, and retain a diverse and dynamic student population in line with the mission of the school. The Admissions Director works collaboratively with the Tuition Assistance Coordinator guiding families applying for tuition assistance through the admission process. The Admissions Director also works collaboratively with the Chief Financial Officer to ensure that student admissions, enrollment, billing, and matriculation data records are accurate. This is a 12-month position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Director of Admissions will:
Contribute to the mission and standards of the school by recruiting and retaining students who will benefit from the school’s unique culture and programmatic offerings and contribute to the school community.
Formulate forward-thinking, strategic application, admission, and enrollment policies.
Report directly to the head of school and serve as a liaison to the board of trustees regarding admissions and enrollment.
Coordinate four essential elements to ensure a competitive admissions process and the long-term health of the student body and broader alumni/ae base:
Admissions and enrollment management (the tracking of prospective students from applicant to enrollment and beyond)
Research and analysis of relevant demographic and trend data affecting student enrollment and attrition including independent school trends, census based data and internal trends.
Marketing strategy development and implementation.
Assumes responsibility for own professional development; for keeping current improved techniques and for attending appropriate professional meetings.
Successful candidates will be energetic high-performers, committed to the school’s mission, possessing drive, initiative, and the ability to work collaboratively and productively under multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment, where unanticipated external and internal events can shift priorities. Candidates must also possess:
A bachelor’s degree; master’s degree preferred
Five to seven years of experience in education, preferably in admissions.
Ability to think critically and creatively
Proven success in a senior administrative role, preferably working with an independent school board of trustees.
Demonstrated leadership qualities
The ability to work collaboratively with other school community members
Outstanding analytical, oral, and written communication skills
