Walnut Hill School for the Arts, an independent school combining a rigorous college-preparatory academic program with intensive training in the arts, seeks an Associate Director of Admission. This is a full-time (12-month) position reporting to the Director of Admission and Financial Aid. The Associate Director of Admission is an integral member of the Admission team and assists with all areas of the admission process.
Manage a portion of the applicant pool
Interview prospective students and families
Build and maintain relationships with sending schools and programs
Read and evaluate applications as a member of the Admission Committee
Travel extensively on behalf of the School to recruit students, represent the School at recruitment fairs and other events.
Conduct presentations or information sessions for prospective families
Assist with orchestration of on-campus programs: Open House, Accepted Student Days, Counselor/Consultant visits, etc.
Visits classes, school events (artistic/academic/community life), and other functions to keep current on life at Walnut Hill
Serve as Admission Office liaison to designated on-campus groups and committees
Other duties as assigned by the Head of School or Director of Admission and Financial Aid
3 to 5 years of experience in admission at the independent school or college level
Highly collaborative with strong verbal, written, and presentation skills
Candidate will be highly energetic and have an interest in travel
Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple complex tasks efficiently and effectively
Driver’s license and appropriate background checks are required
Ability to handle highly sensitive information with discretion
Interest in the goals, objectives, and mission of an independent boarding school focused on excellence in arts and academics
The ability to respond effectively to the needs of a diverse and engaged prospective student and parent population
Special consideration will be given to candidates with arts background, particularly in the field of music.
