This position will help define and develop the role of physical education as it promotes and supports the school’s mission. The physical education teacher will research, develop, coordinate innovative curricular design to leverage health, wellness, and sportsmanship across all grades. The position requires the ability to teach a wide range of ages, learning styles, and abilities in first grade through eighth grade, and to manage and direct multiple layers of coaches, while leading the entire middle school interscholastic athletic program. The coaching of at least one sport is also an integral component to the position.

Responsibilities (Athletic Director):
Teach physical education and health/wellness courses and coach as needed
Offer a cohesive athletic curriculum that allows students to explore their skills and interests
Record and provide accurate information on student athletic progress to students and their families
Hire, mentor, and evaluate coaches
Act as a bridge between academics and athletics
Communicate with parents around all sport activities
Act as budgeting liaison in charge of purchasing and maintenance of all equipment, supplies and uniforms
Promote athletics in the community and beyond
Schedule all contests; Coordinate use of facilities, securing officials & transportation
Develop and enforce all policies and procedures
Set up and tear down on game days
Manage the TPS basketball invitational tournament
Years of experience:
3-5 years of teaching in the elementary grades and middle school is preferred; Coaching experience in at least two different sports at the middle school or high school level; Some supervisory experience in interscholastic athletics and physical education.
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, with a master’s degree in Sports Management preferred.
