The Position Bernard Zell Anshe Emet Day School is seeking an experienced, innovative, and energetic fourth grade teacher to join our expert faculty beginning in the fall of 2017. The teacher would be a part of a fourth grade team that includes both general studies and Jewish studies faculty.
Teach, guide, and inspire students in general studies subject areas
Differentiate instruction for a wide range of students’ abilities and interests
Communicate regularly with parents via online updates, phone-calls or e-mail
Create written narrative reports twice during the school year
Collaborate with Student Services, Specials teachers, Hebrew and Jewish Studies teachers, and outside specialists to coordinate individual educational plans
Must be comfortable being part of a professional learning community
Bachelor’s degree in education; M.A. preferred
At least 2 years of lead teacher classroom experience
Knowledge of Constructivist philosophy and approach
Familiarity with Lucy Calkins Reading/Writing Workshop model
Knowledge of Common Core Math Standards
Experience with Responsive Classroom
Appreciation of a diverse, pluralistic Jewish community
Ability to embrace technology and new ways of extending students' learning and creative capacities; knowledge of interactive whiteboard technology and iPads preferred
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and administration to support and extend the objectives of the curriculum
Experience providing a nurturing, creative, and inclusive environment for students and to create a strong classroom community
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Knowledge of and experience with the cognitive, social, and emotional issues of elementary grade students
Willingness to learn and grow professionally
