Aspen Country Day School seeks a full-time Middle School Learning Specialist for the 2024-25 academic year. This PreK-Eighth Grade school is known for its intentional approach to challenging and nurturing children as they build confidence, resilience, and joy in learning. Vibrant academic, arts, and outdoor programs led by dedicated teachers give students a solid foundation for lives of meaning and purpose. At its newly redeveloped campus in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, the school welcomes approximately 300 students from throughout the Roaring Fork Valley. It is accredited by the Association of Colorado Independent Schools and a member of the National Association of Independent Schools.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Work with the Head of the Middle School to articulate and implement a program for student support in all tiers of instruction.
- Partner proactively with faculty to support students by offering resources, assistance, advice, and training to enable faculty
to meet the needs of all students. - Develop Support and Enrichment classes to support the academic needs, literacy development, and executive functioning of
students. - Create dynamic Individual Support Plans (ILPs) that support specific learning needs.
- Spend time in academic classes and communicate with teachers to report on student achievement and progress.
- Coordinate in-house accommodations and ensure plans are in place for standardized testing.
- Read and synthesize all psychoeducational evaluations for middle school students.
- Meet with families to discuss the progress of their children, academic support, and accommodations.
- Provide one-on-one and small-group instruction for students.
- Work with the Lower School Learning Specialist to ensure implementation of best practices across grade levels.
Successful candidates will have:
- Experience as an English language arts teacher or literacy-focused learning specialist in elementary and/or middle school.
- Experience pushing into or observing classes and working with teachers as a collaborator or coach.
- The ability to collaborate in a collegial environment while maintaining high standards of confidentiality and discretion.
- An understanding of child development and the importance of stoking curiosity in all learners.
- Skill in the use of technology including, but not limited to Google Workspace and student information systems.
- A growth mindset, active sense of humor, warm personality, creative approach, and excellent organizational and communication skills.
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
The wage rate for this position will include a salary in the range of $65,000-85,000; health, dental, disability insurance, retirement plan benefits, and housing support.
