Walden School, a small, independent, student-centered K-12 school, rooted in the core values of respect, responsibility, curiosity, and community, is looking for a Lower School homeroom teacher with a start date of August 1st, 2024.

This position is tasked with implementing Common Core Standards centering on 21st-century skills, experiential learning, and student-centered pedagogy.

The ideal candidate should
- Believe that mentoring students is equally as crucial as teaching content.
- Have current teaching certification.
- Have a master’s degree in education or two years of experience teaching in a classroom setting.
- Have the willingness to participate in extracurricular activities.
- Have plans and coordinate programs that actively engage parents, the community, and system partners.
- Have planned and engaging, objective-focused lessons that are executed daily.
- Have evidence of productive experience with Responsive Classroom management.
- Have evidence of planning, organization, and time management skills that will bring structure and accountability to the position.
- Have a deep understanding of student learning theory, brain-based learning, and differentiated instruction.
- Have a deep understanding of Common Core Standards for primary grades.
- Have the ability and willingness to collaborate with teachers regarding student learning.
- Have the desire and willingness to continue professional development learning for classroom instruction.
