The Position
Chapin School is seeking a dedicated and dynamic professional to fill a full-time position as the Academic Technologist for grades pre-kindergarten through eighth and Technology Teacher for kindergarten through second grade. Both roles are part time, together comprising a full-time position. This position reports to the Director of Technology and the Assistant Head of School.
Responsibilities:
Technology Teacher
- Teaching technology classes to students in kindergarten to Grade 2
- Document student feedback in progress notes throughout the year and report cards at the end of each trimester
- Fulfill lunch and recess duty responsibilities
Academic Technologist
- Curriculum design to integrate technology
- Collaboration with teachers to plan and implement lessons using technology including team teaching where appropriate
- Staff development to design and implement training sessions and materials including individual instruction when needed
- Coordinator of STEAM program
- Take on some additional responsibilities as needed within the technology department including the following: resetting and setting up iPads, end-user support, help desk tickets, and simple technical troubleshooting
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred
- Three years of teaching experience, with some in elementary preferred
- Independent school experience is preferable
- Should be proficient with commonly used Windows, Apple iOS, and cloud-based applications such as Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, graphics and sound editors, common educational software, educational iOS apps, Classkick, and Seesaw. Familiarity with Blackbaud’s Educational Management System is helpful but not required.
