Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart School seeks a Montessori Assistant who will facilitate the small group instruction and intervention/enrichment services to three-, four-, and five-year-old students in collaboration with the Montessori Lead Teacher. Under the direct leadership of the Lower School Head and guided by the Goals and Criteria, he/she will work independently and collaboratively to provide a stimulating and developmentally appropriate educational environment for all learners.
Essential duties and responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- A commitment to the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart network schools as articulated in the school mission.
- Teaching students in core subjects such as math, language arts, etc.
- Organizing and managing a classroom environment to accomplish program goals safely and effectively.
- Supporting students as they develop skills and attitudes essential to realize their full potential.
- Modeling certain attributes of intelligence - academic, spiritual, and emotional - while demonstrating our belief in the dignity of all the students we serve.
- Preparing classroom activities, organizing teaching materials, maintaining classroom records, and managing time effectively.
- Engaging in curriculum reviews and collaborating on Discipline initiatives.
- Participating in faculty meetings, liturgies, chapels, retreats, school assemblies, and special events such as, but not limited to, back-to-school night and admissions showcases.
- Utilizing cognitive science and educational research to inform teaching practices.
- Participating in reflective, self-directed, ongoing professional development.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree is preferred
- Three to five years of classroom experience is preferred
- Intercultural competency and a commitment to supporting social justice, inclusion, and diversity as articulated in the Sacred Heart Goals & Criteria.
- Commitment to ongoing professional growth
- Enthusiasm for teaching students of all abilities
- Strong communication skills
- Demonstrated success with effective use of technology
