Pine Point School seeks a part-time, enthusiastic, experienced Learning Specialist to join our Center for Assessment and Learning and provide learning support to Pre-K – 9th-grade students. This position involves working with classroom teachers, administrators, and parents/guardians to identify and support individual learning plans. Candidates will perform formal and informal assessments to monitor student progress and inform individual educational goals. Candidates will be expected to provide individualized and small-group instruction, assist teachers with professional development and differentiating instruction, and participate in meetings to support all learners. Candidates should be able to collaborate with colleagues in a progressive learning environment and be dedicated to the Pine Point School mission.
Skills, Knowledge, and Attributes:
- A degree in Special Education or equivalent in experience; Masters preferred
- Experience working with students with Language-Based Learning Disabilities in reading and writing as well as math
- Ability to administer basic screenings, progress monitoring, and benchmark testing to gather information about how best to support students and make recommendations for a more comprehensive evaluation when merited
- Experience with direct, explicit, multisensory, structured literacy teaching methods (e.g., Orton-Gillingham approach; Wilson Reading System)
- Experience to support all students (e.g., SMARTS curriculum)
- Proven ability to modify instruction and materials to accommodate various student learning profiles
- Proficiency and interest in technology to support differentiated learning
- Experience providing parents and teachers with guidance and resources
