St. Francis Upper School seeks a veteran Upper School Humanities Department chair to join our highly collaborative Upper School design team in the launch of our new high school division. Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years high school classroom experience in Humanities, History, and/or English. The Chair will help shape the high school curriculum that will encompass humanities, English, and history courses over a four-year sequence. The ideal candidate has interest in and experience with interdisciplinary teaching practice, team teaching, curriculum design, and project-based teaching models such as PBL or Design Thinking. The position works in a team model with other department chairs and division administrators to craft an integrated, cross-disciplinary curriculum. Chairs will also be called on to craft and launch student life-related projects geared towards strengthening community for our inaugural 9th grade class. Intellectual curiosity, energy, flexibility, collaboration, and humility are the key traits central to success in this position.
