Crystal Springs Uplands School, a coeducational independent day school in Hillsborough, California serving students in grades 6-12 on two campuses is seeking an enthusiastic, creative, dynamic, and collaborative part-time Visual Arts teacher to teach two sections of Ceramics at its Upper School campus in Hillsborough, California. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of teaching experience, and have knowledge of adolescent development.
More specifically, we are looking for candidates who:
Are art teachers/ artists with a focus in ceramics
Possess a BA or BFA in Visual Arts
Have knowledge and experience using a Kiln and firing in a variety of techniques
Have knowledge and experience with ceramic glazes and processes
Possess a deep knowledge of the craft and traditional techniques of ceramics and a desire to push the boundaries of working in clay to create contemporary sculptures in clay
We are also looking for candidates who:
Love working with high school-aged children and possess demonstrated success/effectiveness with 14-18 year olds
Are eager to collaborate with other teachers
Are able to differentiate and teach to multiple learning styles
See connections between disciplines for cross-curricular lessons
Incorporate teaching practices and curriculum development, which are developmentally appropriate and culturally responsive and competent
