The Potomac School is seeking a full-time Upper School Art Teacher and student advisor. We are looking for a candidate with expertise and teaching experience in art (9-12) to begin in August 2018.
The ideal candidate should have completed several years of relevant full-time teaching at the secondary school level and possess a bachelor’s degree. A master’s degree is also desirable. We are looking for experience teaching teenagers in, ideally, a full range of studio art media and methods including drawing, printmaking, painting, ceramics, and photography. Additionally, teaching candidates will themselves be practicing artists with a personal understanding of ideas and techniques and the confidence to demonstrate them in the studio, where appropriate, for their students. Some study of art history is also desirable.
We are looking for a candidate experienced in teaching various studio arts to Upper School students. Additionally, we are looking for a strong commitment to students, a positive, collaborative and collegial style, and the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner. Candidates should express themselves well in speech and writing.
