We are currently seeking an experienced Full-Time Reading Specialist to join our dynamic faculty.
About the position
The Reading Specialist is responsible for coaching teachers by supporting a range of instructional practices, lesson planning, report writing, and parent meetings. He/she will also teach small groups and reading remediation using the Orton-Gillingham approach.
Timing:Position to begin August 20, 2018.
Possess intellectual curiosity, strong communication skills, flexibility of teaching style, openness to others’ ideas and a sense of humor
Flexibility in working with multiple grade levels utilizing an Orton-Gillingham based, multi-sensory approach to teaching
Philosophy based on student-centered instruction
Master’s in Education, Special Education, or Literacy & Reading Specialist
A minimum of three to four years’ experience with reading instruction/remediation
With learning differences and differentiated curriculum
Understanding of Middle school literature content
Teaching professional development opportunities
It is essential that candidates have a philosophy based on student-centered instruction, and experience with learning differences and differentiation of instruction.
