Annie Wright Schools serve students from age three through high school. Annie Wright Lower and Middle Schools offer co-ed programs in Preschool through Grade 8, while separate Upper Schools forboys and girls offer day and boarding options in Grades 9 through 12.
Responsibilities: This full-time position in Annie Wright Schools’ new Upper School for Boys will include two sections of ninth-grade physics, one section of tenth grade chemistry and one section of mathematics, likely Algebra 1 or geometry. Additionally, the teacher will lead an ungraded elective activity after school on a related topic such as robotics or coding.
The Upper School for Boys (USB) will begin its second year in the 2018-19 academic year with one section each (16-18 boys) in both ninth and tenth grades. In the 2019-2020 academic year, the Schools will open a new academic building as home to the USB with an accompanying anticipated increase in enrollment and sections.
This is a unique opportunity to join a new school and to help shape curriculum, culture and traditions. All faculty members are expected to engage actively in the process of building a new school and thus will be expected to engage beyond teaching in a variety of other duties (academic advising, chaperoning, etc.) that will build authentic and lasting relationships and a healthy, vibrant culture of teaching and learning.
Qualifications: Strong applicants will have experience teaching science at the high school level, ideally at an independent school. They will have a demonstrated passion for their subject, flexibility and an ability to inspire, encourage, and support students. They will have strong computer skills and must be effective communicators.
