Greens Farms Academy (“GFA”) is a 714-student independent co-ed day school for grades pre-K through 12, located on 45 acres in Westport, CT.
GFA seeks an innovative and highly seasoned professional with strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated record of mission based fiscal leadership to serve as its next Chief Finance and Operations Officer. The CFO/COO serves as a member of the Administrative Council, the School’s senior policymaking team, and reports directly to the Head of School.
GFA has a $29MM operating budget, an endowment of $44MM, and is debt free.
The Chief Finance and Operations Officer is responsible for finance, human resources, facilities, construction oversight, food service, legal and risk management, and transportation. The position has 4 direct and 26 indirect reports.
The CFO/COO works closely with the Board of Trustees, participates in all Board meetings, and the following Board committees: Finance, Investment, and Building & Grounds. The CFO/COO is also a member of the Financial Aid, 403(b), Food, and Safety committees. Additionally, he/she serves on the Horizons at GFA Finance Committee.
The CFO/COO is responsible managing the School’s fiscal policies, programs, and practices including preparing both the annual budget and the long range financial plan and ensuring the fiscal stability of the institution. He/she will provide oversight for several construction projects scheduled for completion in the fall of 2018.
The successful candidate will be a creative and strategic thinker with a clear vision of the role of finance in realizing institutional objectives and priorities. An outstanding communicator and problem solver, he/she will also have proven experience in managing change while demonstrating a dedication to community, collaboration, and equity.
A minimum of 7-10 years of progressively responsible senior management experience in a complex environment, is required. Academic and/or non-profit experience is a plus but not required.
