Milton Academy, established in 1798, is an independent coeducational national boarding and day school, serving 1,000 students in grades K-12, on a 125-acre campus eight miles south of Boston.
Milton Academy is seeking a full-time Upper School mathematics teacher for a position starting in September 2018.
The teacher will be responsible for four classes and involvement with student life beyond the classroom. A bachelor’s degree in mathematics or related field is required; experience teaching statistics is also helpful. A master’s degree and three years teaching mathematics at the secondary or collegiate level are preferred. Teacher certification is not required. Experience using Desmos, GeoGebra, and a graphing calculator is also preferred. Demonstrated ability working in a diverse community is essential. A strong candidate will bring a love of the subject, joy in teaching and an active interest in improving craft.
All teachers advise 6-8 students. Teachers are also expected to advise a student activity or coach a team or intramural sport, in addition to other responsibilities. Faculty members residing on campus typically live and work in a dormitory and all teachers living on campus have responsibilities in the residential program.
