Menlo School is seeking an enthusiastic full-time 8th grade Mathematics Teacher to teach a comprehensive Algebra 1 course to help students build a strong foundation of algebraic concepts. The ideal candidate has a genuine love of Middle School students and is excited to work with all types of learners to help students see mathematics as a subject full of meaning and interconnected ideas, rather than as a class in which they memorize rules and practice routines. In addition to teaching four class sections, full-time faculty members oversee a 10-12 student advocacy group which is the core of our social and emotional learning curriculum.
In our hiring process, we look for teachers who:

promote thoughtful mathematical discourse in the classroom,
are willing to allow student interests, questions, and misconceptions to guide daily curricular decisions,
differentiate instruction for a range of student abilities and have a broad knowledge of and experience with current best practices in curriculum and instruction
participate in the development and alignment of the Mathematics curriculum
invest in the life of the school by actively participating in Advocacy, clubs, an extracurricular activity, grade and math department teams and faculty committees,
embody the heart of Menlo School and share our commitment to cultivating an ever more heterogeneous and inclusive community.
