Kehillah Jewish High School is seeking a creative, enthusiastic, reflective, and caring Visual and Digital Arts teacher with advanced skills in graphic design and photography who has a mastery of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. Classes will include digital design, photography, print publication, package design, design thinking, yearbook design, and visual communication. Traditional drawing and painting classes are also possible, depending on interests and abilities. We are looking for a dynamic educator who will have a deep appreciation for educational access and neurodiversity.
In addition to teaching responsibilities, faculty members undertake student advisory roles, participate in day and overnight class trips, mentor student clubs, and assume various duties that contribute to the life of the school. All faculty and staff members foster a culture of mutual respect, collaboration, diversity, and inclusion. This position begins in August, 2018.

Prepare and communicate lesson plans with clear objectives that facilitate active learning
Assign, evaluate and grade class work, projects, and assignments; provide appropriate and timely feedback
Adjust teaching strategies to encourage progress of individual students; adapt new technology when indicated
Compile, administer, and grade examinations; regularly communicate progress to students, parents, and colleagues
Use effective classroom management techniques in accordance with the policies of the school
Maintain and post accurate and timely student attendance, grades, and other required records
Attend and contribute to Department, Learning Center, parent and SST meetings as assigned
Plan, evaluate, and revise curricula, course content, and materials with Dean; develop scope and sequence
Attend and participate in weekly school programs, Seminar, off-campus events/trips, and departmental initiatives
Actively engage in year-long Professional Growth Plan (PGP) and meet all benchmarks
Maintain regularly scheduled office hours in order to advise and assist students.
Take on Advisory role: implement established curriculum, check grades, actively partner with Learning Center, advisee’s teachers, and parents; timely communicate concerns and progress
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experienced teaching students from diverse backgrounds and supporting neurodiversity in order to provide students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential
Proficient at competently assessing student performances and preparing comprehensive assessments for the student, parents, and school administrators
Experienced implementing positive classroom management techniques, innovative methodologies, and activities that foster active learning and enhance the academic programs
Willing to collaborate with student learning services to differentiate instruction for all learners
Show a high level of professionalism and willingness to “go the extra mile” to reach goals for students
Demonstrate knowledge and implementation of relevant technology
Able to apply common sense and extreme diplomacy, discretion, and confidentiality in written and oral forms
Embody exceptional people skills in phone and email etiquette; promptly respond to questions or concerns of parents and co-workers while maintaining a positive, pleasant demeanor
Manifest being a life-long learner; improving skill and knowledge-base in current trends, research and methodology in instructional techniques, technology, multicultural content, problem solving and interdisciplinary connections
Attend and contribute to staff/faculty meetings
Participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs, and student organizations; willing and available to work occasional overnight class trips
Actively pursue professional development throughout the year
Model excellent attendance and punctuality
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited educational institution; master’s degree is a plus
Minimum of three years teaching beginning to advanced Digital Arts classes, preferably in a high school setting
Advanced skills in graphic design, photography, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign
Experienced in best practices in education and pedagogy

Navigate a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and diverse contacts which may at times be stressful
Able to travel safely and comfortably across a 50,000 sq. ft. campus
Work in a traditional climate controlled environment and occasionally outdoors
Able to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.
