Business Management, Facilities or Plant Operations
Beauvoir, the National Cathedral Elementary School, an independent co-educational primary school located in Washington D.C., seeks a full-time CFO to begin July 1, 2018.
The CFO provides strategic and managerial leadership for the finances, facilities, and business operation s working collaboratively and creatively with colleagues across the school, ensuring that faculty, staff and programs have ample resources at their disposal, that current and future projects are well-funded and well-managed, and Beauvoir's current resources and future financial sustainability are responsibly managed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION:
The CFO is responsible for all business aspects of the school, including finance, investments, facilities, human resources and other assigned operational functions. In particular, the CFO will focus on strategic and financial planning , maintaining fiscal discipline; oversight of capital projects; initiating, and ensuring that financial resources such as endowment, cash and debt are properly administered.
Leads and manages financial and business office operations of the school, including accounting, accounts payable, revenue and collections and internal controls.
Prepares budgets and forecasts for short and long term planning and for capital projects.
Advises the Head of School and Administration on topics of finance and facilities operation. Recommend financial strategies, objectives, benchmarks and metrics in support of leadership goals and strategic plans.
Supports Board Committees including the Finance Committee, the Building & Grounds Committee and the Investment Subcommittee.
Coordinates with PECF auditors and the PECF Audit Committee.
Represents the School to and coordinates with the PECF staff and trustee committees; serves on the PECF Operations Committee.
Administers cash and investment transactions and processes in accordance with PECF policies, Beauvoir's Investment Policy Statement and the decisions of the Investment Subcommittee.
Oversee timely and accurate preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports, analyses and forecasts consistent with management needs, board and PECF requirements and industry best practices.
Oversees risk management, insurance, regulatory compliance and administration of legal matter s. Reviews and approves contracts and ensures appropriate and current files are maintained for contracts, certificates of insurance, performance bond s and pending claims.
Manages payroll and human resources in concert with PECF staff, including policies and procedures, regulatory compliance, benefits, retirement plans, documentation and employee support.
Oversees day to day facilities operations including custodial services, repairs and maintenance of the school facilities, energy and safety.
Manages third parties including food services, facilities, design and construction and/or others as required.
Coordinates with PECF Shared Services including facilities, grounds, finance, human resources and Police.
At least ten years of financial leadership in a school, nonprofit or similar environment.
Advanced degree in bu siness administration or related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
Experience in facilities management, construction or related disciplines a plus.
Strong analytical capabilities
Compatibility with the School's values, culture, and current administration and faculty are a must.
GENERAL REQUIRE MENTS
Passing periodic background checks, FBI background check and, at the discretion of the school, drug and alcohol screening.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; credibility and ethical conduct.
Strong writing and editing skills; ability to write and format professional correspondence, memos, and support documentation.
Mature judgment and discretion; ability to maintain confidentiality and composure under pressure.
Consistent and prompt attendance.
Compliance with the provisions of the Beauvoir Faculty & Staff Handbook.
BA, Master's preferred; accounting and financial management experience.
Independent school experience preferred, but not-for -profit background acceptable.
