Barrow Street Nursery School seeks an Early Childhood assistant or associate teacher for our 2s/3s classroom. The 2s/3s class is children who are between 2 years 9 months and 3 years 3 months at the start of school. There are two groups of 12 children who attend each week; one group attends from 9:00 – 12:00 (M-F) and the other 1:00 – 4:00 (M-F). There are two other full-time teachers in this classroom.
Teachers at Barrow Street are practitioners of progressive education within the context of a social studies based program and a mission driven school derived from a Reggio Emilia and Bank Street pedagogy.
The 2s/3s teacher is responsible for:
Creating weekly written portfolio pieces on students
His/her students and curriculum
Working with two other teachers and collaborating with specialists. Teachers come together on a regular basis to plan and work together, discuss students, and hone curriculum.
Fostering positive social/emotional growth through an environment where the balance of play and developmentally appropriate academic concepts are essential components

Bachelor’s degree required
At least 1 year of successful experience as a teacher.
Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education required
At least 1 year of successful experience as a teacher
Candidate’s pedagogy should be student-centered and practiced in differentiated instruction.
Strong written/communication skills
Background or experience in special education is a plus
Background or experience with written documentation on children is a plus
